Fundación Costa Palmas Joins the Traditional Christmas Tree Lighting in La Ribera

On December 6, La Ribera sparkled with the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree, presided over by the municipal mayor, Oscar Leggs Castro, and his wife, the honorary president of DIF, Flora Aguilar de Leggs, marking the commencement of the holiday season in the municipality.

This year, the Costa Palmas Foundation joined in the festivities, showcasing its involvement with a light decoration, complemented by services such as hot chocolate, churros, refreshing beverages, and an acrobatic spectacle of lights and fire enjoyed by both children and adults.

The event saw the participation of local schools, including those from Cabo Pulmo and Santa Cruz. From educational levels such as maternal to telehigh school, children actively engaged in various festive activities.

Among the authorities present, besides Mayor Leggs and his wife, were Angélica Ojeda, Director of DIF La Ribera; Miguel Mijares, Delegate of La Ribera; Oscar Manriquez, Delegate of Santiago; and Ruth Díaz Gurría, Director of the Costa Palmas Foundation, who received a certificate of recognition for her outstanding contribution to this Christmas event from DIF.

The honorary president of the Municipal DIF Los Cabos, Flora Aguilar de Leggs, shared reflections during the lighting ceremony: "In this season full of hope and unity, let us reflect on the importance of solidarity and love for our fellow beings. The light illuminating this tree today represents the strength of our community."

The event, attended by 1000 people, as well as volunteers from Four Seasons Los Cabos, Costa Palmas and DIF staff, concluded with a traditional nativity play (“pastorela” in Spanish), officially marking the beginning of the holiday season in La Ribera. The Costa Palmas Foundation takes pride in actively contributing and participating in this meaningful event. Thank you to all attendees!
