Blue Flag Prestige Awarded to El Surgidero Beach in La Ribera

El Surgidero Beach in La Ribera has been honored with the prestigious Blue Flag certification this week. A few days ago, the team from the Municipal Coordination of the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone of Los Cabos (Zofemat), led by Jorge Armando Meza Núñez, along with inspectors from Blue Flag Mexico, visited the beach as part of the procedures for the certification for the 2023-2024 season.

The Blue Flag certification is an international recognition bestowed upon beaches and marinas that meet excellence standards in water quality, environmental management and education, safety, and multiple services. It involves rigorous verification and continuous monitoring.

This certification holds crucial significance for the Costa Palmas Foundation, which has adopted El Surgidero Beach for signage and cleaning efforts, particularly after the passage of Hurricane Norma in October of the previous year.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude. The beach cleaning campaign has been a resounding success. In the two years I have been with Zofemat, it is the first time that such a significant number of people have been convened, with such an efficient organization and outstanding results. We are sincerely grateful to the Costa Palmas Foundation. Thanks to their support, our beloved El Surgidero Beach has received this valuable certification. This achievement represents a significant milestone for our community," stated Juan Cruz Cosío Agúndez, a native of La Ribera and in charge of the management of the beach on behalf of Zofemat.

The foundation is committed to maintaining the beaches of the La Ribera community in impeccable condition, ensuring they can be enjoyed by all residents. We extend our gratitude to all collaborators who assisted us in this commendable task. Environmental excellence is a shared endeavor!
