Improving Parks for the Community

Recently, Fundación Costa Palmas, in collaboration with Santiago's Delegate, Oscar Manriquez, embarked on the task of revitalizing two parks in Santiago - Parque Matancitas and Parque El Campamento - with the purpose of providing the community with pleasant spaces for recreation, celebrations, games, and more.

At Parque Matancitas, a rehabilitation project covering 2,300 square meters took place. This included painting kiosks, restoring and painting playground equipment, renewing 6 exercise stations, installing 6 linear meters of rigid mesh, painting 9 benches, a multipurpose court, the stage, and improving park access. Approximately 1300 individuals, including children, adults, and seniors, engage in various child, social, and community activities within this space.

Parque El Campamento, on the other hand, underwent a rehabilitation of 1800 square meters, which included painting the multipurpose court, the stage, low walls, and concrete courts. Improvements were also made to the playground equipment.

Both parks were inaugurated with special ceremonies, where Fundación Costa Palmas extended invitations to primary school children and teachers. The event was attended by Santiago's Delegate, Óscar Manríquez, sub-delegate Ana Alicia de la Peña, and Carlos Castro, the State government representative.

The purpose of this initiative by Fundación Costa Palmas was twofold: creating spaces for the local community to enjoy, exercise, and gather for special moments, and establishing an initial core to contribute to the urban development of the community. As a result of these efforts, the local population approached the foundation to discuss more needs, marking the beginning of many future projects in the region. We look forward to continuing to improve and create space for the enjoyment of the entire community!
