The Residents of El Campamento Welcome a Renovated Health Center 

Fundación Costa Palmas continues its work enhancing the local community, improving safety, and providing resources that contribute to the well-being of families in Cabo del Este. Recently, the organization was involved in renovations to a health center, supplying and installing a ceramic floor, applying a fresh coat of paint to the interior and exterior, replacing utilities, and repairing doors and windows. They also provided new furniture and art for the center, resulting in a welcoming and nurturing environment.

“We reiterate our commitment and willingness to work together with the community, likewise, this achievement adds to the efforts of Costa Palmas for the development of the community, which have been maintained for more than a decade. To date, we have implemented numerous actions to promote care for the environment, education, well-being, and culture in the northern area of the municipality of Los Cabos,” noted Ruth Díaz Gurría, President of Fundación Costa Palmas.

The center is managed by María del Jesus “La Güera” Castro Estrada, who has run it for 40 years. She encourages residents of El Campamento to come in for a check-up, vaccinations, blood pressure control, and injections. She also coordinates the visit of a doctor and a nurse from the San José del Cabo Ministry of Health who come twice a month to deliver vaccines and care for hypertensive and diabetic patients.

The health center is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3  pm, but María de Jesus is always here, ready to help the inhabitants of El Campamento, which are already close to 2,000. “I am always at the service of the people,” she says.
