Fundación Costa Palmas demonstrated its ongoing commitment to supporting education and fostering creativity by organizing an inspiring mural painting activity at the Telesecundaria Agustín Olachea Aviles in La Ribera.
Mexican artist Ileana Kotasek Bonilla, renowned for her captivating depictions of the Baja deserts and tropical landscapes, designed the mural. At 23 years old, she brought her artistic expertise and passion to the project. Ileana expressed her joy and gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the children, remarking on their enthusiastic participation and positive attitude throughout the process. She cherished the experience of working alongside them, stating, "It was a wonderful experience to paint with the kids. They all collaborated and had the best attitude; I loved being part of this wonderful project.” In addition to contributing to the mural, the artist generously shared her knowledge and taught the children various painting techniques.
The painting endeavor involved the active involvement of both Costa Palmas volunteers and students from the school. Together, they skillfully painted a breathtaking Baja desert landscape and included a representation of a whale, an emblematic creature of the region. This artistic collaboration not only adorned the school walls but also served as a powerful symbol of the local environment and cultural heritage.
The result of their collective efforts left both teachers and students elated. The vibrant mural brightened the school environment, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and creativity. The joy and pride felt by all involved were evident in their appreciation for the final masterpiece.
Fundación Costa Palmas remains dedicated to enriching local schools and providing children with better educational environments. By initiating projects like the mural painting activity, they strive to enhance the student's study and learning spaces. Through their ongoing commitment, the foundation aims to create positive and conducive educational settings that foster the growth and development of young minds.
