Empowering Education
The IT Center at the Telebachillerato Comunitario de La Ribera #12, inaugurated by Fundación Costa Palmas in late 2022, continues to prove to be a vital resource with various uses. It serves as the main classroom for the 40-plus Telebachillerato students, where they conduct their regular classes, including English classes, which are also supported by the Costa Palmas Foundation. Additionally, students from the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS) also use this Computer Center at Telebachillerato for their studies. These students are part of the tourism bachelor's program and find a suitable space for their academic activities in these facilities.
The initiative has not only equipped the school with 17 complete computers but also with desks and chairs, as well as regulators to ensure optimal equipment operation. Infrastructure has also been improved with the installation of air conditioning, gutters, curtains, and fresh paint, along with shelves to organize books and educational materials.
One of the students benefiting from this center commented: "For those of us who don't have access to computers, it helps us carry out activities and tasks, as well as allowing us to take our English classes, which helps us develop the language. I have learned many new things and new functions thanks to this Computer Center."
The Telebachillerato director, Victoria Toyes, highlighted the importance of this implementation: "The creation of the Computer Center at Telebachillerato has allowed our students to delve into the world of new technologies more safely and motivated. They have become more curious about using this resource, and we have noticed how activities unfold more smoothly. This center has also added greater formality to the students’ work and tasks." She continued, "We are deeply grateful to the Costa Palmas Foundation for these invaluable tools they have provided us: the IT equipment and the English classes. We, the teachers, are proud to see the impressive change our school has undergone thanks to the Costa Palmas Foundation. It has greatly increased the sense of belonging and security for each student."
At the Costa Palmas Foundation, we remain committed to the education of the residents of La Ribera and its surroundings. This IT Center is just one example of our dedication to improving the educational opportunities of this community.
