Exploring the Secrets of Nature: An Enriching Day of Plant and Seed Education

Thirty kindergarteners from La Ribera had the incredible opportunity to spend a memorable morning at the Costa Palmas garden/field, delving into a hands-on learning experience. The Activity organized by Fundación Costa Palmas was a wonderful event that aimed to educate and inspire the younger generation about the wonders of nature and the importance of self-sustainability.

Under the guidance of Fabiola Ceseña, the dedicated agricultural manager of Costa Palmas, the children discovered the fundamental aspects of plant life, including their basic needs and care, the fascinating germination process, as well as the significance of seeds, and how to plant them. With their newfound knowledge, each child planted a seed in a pot, enabling them to take home a tangible symbol of their commitment to nurturing and witnessing the growth of their very own plant.

The event not only relied on the expertise of Fabiola but also benefited from the involvement of enthusiastic volunteers from Fundación Costa Palmas, as well as a few members of the Costa Palmas community.

In addition to planting seeds, the kindergarteners were taught the vital skills of harvesting and cleaning bean and lettuce seeds. These practical lessons offered them insights into the journey from seed-to-plate, empowering them to understand the origins of their food and the significance of responsible farming practices.

The day's activities were not solely focused on education, as the children were also treated to a delightful lunch, further enhancing their connection with nature and fostering a sense of joy and appreciation for the world around them.

The event served as a testament to Fundación Costa Palmas' unwavering dedication to nurturing young minds, fostering a love for nature, and empowering them to become stewards of the environment. Through such initiatives, they continue to inspire and shape the younger generation, imparting the invaluable skills needed to cultivate a sustainable and harmonious relationship with the natural world.
